How to reach Brahmamgari Mattam by Air
Kadapa Airport
The Airport was constructed in 1953, and initially had a 3,500 ft (1,067 m) runway. In the 1980s, Vayudoot operated services to Kadapa from Hyderabad. The State Government and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in March 2007 for developing the existing airports at Kadapa to handle ATR-72 type of aircraft. The upgraded airport was inaugurated on 7 June 2015 by Indian Civil Aviation Minister, Ashok Gajapathi Raju. Scheduled commercial flights to the airport resumed on 7 June 2015 when Air Pegasus launched thrice weekly ATR 72 service to Bangalore. In April 2016, TruJet introduced flights to Hyderabad and later Vijayawada. At present the Indigo Airlines is the only airline operating at Kadapa.
Located in the center of Andhra Pradesh, Kadapa Airport (IATA: CDP, ICAO: VOCP) acts as a vital link, effectively connecting the area to the larger aviation network.
Situated just 12 km (7.5 mi) from the center of Kadapa city, the airport covers a vast area of 669.5 acres (270.9 ha) of carefully organized land.
At an elevation of 430 ft (131 m) above sea level, the runway at Kadapa Airport, designated 11/29, extends an impressive 6,562 ft (2,000 m), with its surface meticulously constructed from asphalt to ensure optimal performance.
The terminal building of Kadapa Airport stands as an architectural masterpiece, showcasing modern design and functionality.
Officially opened on 7 June 2015 by the Minister of Civil Aviation, Ashok Gajapathi Raju, this advanced facility is designed to accommodate a substantial number of passengers during peak times. Equipped with state-of-the-art amenities, the terminal guarantees a smooth experience for travelers.
The thoughtfully designed apron, which can host two ATR-72 type aircraft at the same time, further enhances the airport's operational capabilities, reflecting a strategic focus on improving efficiency.
