SWAMI SRI VEERABRAHMENDRA
A Monograph on Pothuluru Veerabrahmendra Swamy
Religious Tolerance
The revolutionary approach of Veerabrahmam towards the religions brought about a change in the attitude of the Muslim community as also the then Nawabs of Cuddapah, Kurnool, Siddhaut and Banaganepalle. In course of time, the swamy made an appeal to their good sense and preached them the benefits of religious tolerance and coexistence. Although the task was hazardous, he successfully carried out his mission, despite the hue and cry of both Hindus and Muslims that the individual sanctity of their religion was being lost. The Swamy never meddled with the religious faith and belief of the individuals. His fight was always against the inhuman treatment of the people under the disguise of religion.
Left to himself he was a strict Advaitin who could overcome the dual feeling. A true advaitin never hates his fellow being nor does he develop inordinate love for any individual. He is just like a dew drop floating on the petals of lotus without any adherence. Even as a house holder he never develops passionate love and affection either for his consort or for his off - springs. As for the disciples of Veerabrahmam Annajayya a Brahmin, Siddappa a Panchama, equally shared the love and affection of their beloved Guru.
