During the year 1982 late Sri Nandamuri Taraka Rama Raoji made a film on the life history of Sri Veerabrahmendra Swamiji. Later, he became the Chief Minister of the State. As a mark of devotion and belief on Swamiji, he laid the foundation-stone for ‘Telugu Ganga’ Project which cannot be forgotten by the people of these areas, on 24 th April 1984 by joining hands with the Chief Minister of Tamilnadu. Since a reservoir has been built near the Mattam of Sri Veerabrahendra Swamiji, it is named as “Brahma Sagar” In 2004 when Sri YS Rajasekhara Reddy was the Chief Minister of Andhra Padesh, water from Pothireddipadu to the Brahma Sagar was released. The water has been released into the canals through the hands of Smt.Sonia Gandhiji from the Brahma Sagar. Gardens have been built by the Tourism Department. With its cool atmosphere and the beauty of the nature, The Telugu Ganga (Brahma Sagar Project) attracts tourists. A majority of tourists and pilgrims, who come to visit the Mattam of Sri Veerabrahmendra Swamiji visit this beautiful spot without fail.
