The Raja Yogi

“Samsaramandu nundiyu“Samsaramandu nundiyu
Samsaramu mithya chesi, sarvamu tanai
Samsarambunu gelichine
Samsare Rajayogi satyamu Siddha !”

Oh ! My dear adept ! A Rajayogi is indeed one who leads the life of a house-holder; but he does treat it as a worldly illusion. He, having become himself the omniscient, conquers the house-holder’s life, a circuit of mundane existence.

The practice of yoga

‘Yajnamu chese sujananulaku
Vedoktapu Vidhi tellyadaya !
Agrajanmamainanduku tanalo
Agni lepi Kurchundavalen ;
Muguriki hitavuga mula janmamulu
Phalamandu Sodhimpavalen !
Vudi vudi poyyudetappudu
Vupiri samaramu nerugavalen ;
Kama krodhamanu pasuvunu patti
Karmadwaramuna Kattavalen !”

Unknown are the do’s and don’t’ of Veda even to the wisest who perform the yajna. Should they not be capable of igniting the inner fire (i.e. Kundalini, the serpent power in the steady posture of yoga) for, they claim to be of the highest birth? Let them search their forehead (the Sahasrara) for the origin of their trio-breath (namely Ida, Pingala and Sushumna). Let them know the threatening pangs of the breath while blowing the oven fire i.e. practicing the science of pranic rhythm called SWARA YOGA. Let the wild beast of passion and anger in them be tied down, tightly at the door of action (Karma) through Yama, Niyama etc.

“Vude tittula paiga nunde
Unmati teliyara voranna !
Tittula nadumanu chakshula meedanu
Cheekati gottara voranna !
Cheekati gottanu Toka naluka
Teesuka lepara voranna !
Tosuka lepite kakaku pamu
Chirruna lechura voranna !

‘Dear brother ! Know thou the heights of the Supreme Mind comfortably seated far above the two blowing bellows of thine. Betwix the bellows and above the eyes, strike out the darkness, for which thou art required to hold the tail and the tongue of the Serpant and make it stand errect. The moment it is pushed up, the Serpant restlessly stands errect owing to the excessive power produced during the practice of yogic penance.

(The Serpant referred to, here is evidently the Serpant power called ‘Kundali Shakti’, a familiar term in Yoga terminology.)

The ‘Achala Matam’

“Brahmamanaga vere paradesamuna ledu ;
Brahmanaga chudu battabayalu ;
Tanaku tane Brahma taraka mavunaya ;
Kali Kamba, Hamsa, Kali Kamba”

‘Brahmam, the Supreme Being is not anywhere else, To get at Him, look into the plain open ; He himself manifests in the form of the ever-redeeming mystic syllable called ‘Tarakam’. Oh, Mother Kali, the Supreme Spirit, Thou art capable of protecting the good and destroying the evil !’
